The Lenovo ThinkPad E550 was launched at the CES 2015 and today our colleagues at laptop media were able to get their hands on the unit. They have posted several photos of it showing the innards of it that show how to upgrade the hard disk and RAM of Lenovo ThinkPad E550.
There is only one door to be disassembled to get access to the internal parts. There are two RAM slots in Lenovo ThinkPad E550 both of which can accommodate 8GB RAM. As you can see in the below mentioned picture, hard disk too is easily replaceable. You can install an SSD on ThinkPad E550 too which will provide a massive boost to the system performance.
There is enough space for a 3G card and a slot M.2 but both are absent. Also it is possible to swap the optical drive with a second hard disk or SSD. Same steps can be followed for disassembly of Lenovo ThinkPad E555 laptop.
