The Lenovo ThinkPad W550S was unveiled back in early December but there were no reviews of it. The ThinkPad W550S is a very thin and compact laptop measuring 380.6 mm x 258.2 mm x 22.4 mm and weighing mere 2.23 kilograms which is pretty light when you consider that it is a desktop replacement.
Lenovo has integrated all features of a workstation in it. You get precision keyboard with optional backlit and dedicated numeric keypad. Being a ThinkPad, you will find the three trackpoint buttons, biometric sensor for fingerprint sensor and smart card reader.
Other specs of Lenovo W550S include 15.5 inch display with full HD resolution with 300 nits brightness levels and resolution of 2880 x 1620 pixels. There is an option to get one with touchpanel.
On the connectivity front, you get three USB 3.0 ports, mini display port, VGA and headphone – microphone combo jack. There is a 4 in 1 card reader that reads MMC, SD, SDHC and SDXC cards.
You also get the old school Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, dual band antenna and Ethernet. The W550S can be configured with a powerful Intel Core i7 processor, 16 gigabytes of memory, 1 tegabyte hard disk or 512GB SSD and Nvidia Quadro K620M graphics card with 2 gigabytes of VRAM onboard.
There are four battery options:
1) 3 cell 23 Wh battery
2) 3 cell 44 Wh
3) 6 cell 48 Wh
4) 6 cell 72 Wh
Lenovo has not yet announced the price and date of availability. The company also offers Ultra USB 3.0 Dock that adds six more USB 3.0 ports.
