Last week Gigabyte introduced a new line of gaming laptops. As you might know, the Taiwanese company does not distribute its machines in some European nations like Italy but those interested can find some models in neighboring markets such as the French and German. One of those many models is Gigabyte P55K has an IPS 15.6-inch full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) matte screen, Intel Core i7-4720HQ clocked at 2.5GHz (Haswell), up to 16GB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 965m Maxwell GPU with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM.
It is a nice laptop with nothing too eccentric about it. The Gigabyte P55K has simple black polycarbonate chassis with a few orange lines. Obviously, being a gaming laptop, Gigabyte P55K is not thin or compact, measuring 380 x 269 x 34 millimeters and weighing 2.4 kilograms. Part of its heavy weight is also because of the 6-cell battery (with 5400 mAh capacity) integrated.
As for storage, the Gigabyte P55K includes a slot for either 2.5 inch HDD spinning at 7200rpm with 1TB capacity or 5400 rpm with either 500GB or 2TB capacity. There is another slot that supports mSATA SSD. The specifications also includes the presence of WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, HD webcam, Ethernet port, four USB 3.0, HDMI, D-Sub, SD card reader, audio jacks and two 2W speakers with support for Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater. You also need an optical drive? No problem, Gigabyte offers three options: Blu-Ray, combo Blu-Ray / DVD or DVD Super Multi.
Gigabyte P55K incorporates a backlit chiclet keyboard with a key travel of 2.3 mm – perfect for gaming sessions even in the dark. With technology called Gigabyte LAN Optimizer, user will be able to manage different types of network traffic. The Taiwanese company has not announced the price of its new gaming laptop but rumors suggest it should be on sale for about $ 1,250.
