Following the Yoga style designs of Lenovo and HP, Dell has also released a couple of new Haswell powered laptops, Dell Inspiron 3000 and 7000. Both are hybrid laptops and can be used as tablets as well as conventional laptops. The Dell Inspiron 11 3000 11.6 inch model will hit market shelves starting June 19 with a base price tag of USD 450, while its bigger brother, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 will go on sale next month in September. Its pricing information is not yet available.
The 11.6 inch Dell Inspiron 3000 has IPS touch screen display packing 1366×768 pixel resolution and weight mere 1.4 pounds. It has thickness of 19 mm. Dell will be selling it with Intel Celeron N2830 dual core or Pentium N3530 quad core Bay trail processor with 4GB of main memory and 500 gigabytes of hard disk drive. Also on board is 802.11 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, stereo speakers, headphone jack and HDMI output and 2x USB ports. There is an additional slot for SD cards. So while there is nothing extraordinary, nothing is missing too. Battery life is 7.5 hours thanks to 43Wh battery.
The Dell Inspiron 7000 has thickens of 19 millimeters and weighs 1.67 kilograms. Like other Dell laptops, there are several configurations offered. You can get Intel Core i3 or i5 haswell processor, 4 / 8GB RAM and like Insipiron 3000, a touchscreen display with either HD or FHD resolution. You also get removable battery with 43Wh capacity, backlit keyboard to help you type in the dark, 2x USB 3.0 , 1x USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, audio jack and SD card slot. Keyboards in both models are dust proof and waterproof.
Dell will be offering it with Windows 8.1 as well as Ubuntu Linux operating system.
