Acer Predator 17x vs Predator 17 – compared to the latter, the 17x packs an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 should ensure unparalleled performance in a rather cumbersome and eccentric frame, typical of any gaming laptop. That said, the Acer has developed innovative cooling system, consisting of three fans and not two, that most manufactures use to cool down their laptops. Almost any gaming laptop makes use of two fans – one to generate cold air and the other to ward off the hot air through the ventilation grilles at the back or sides. The Predator 17X instead uses a system called "AeroBlades" triple fan that maximizes the dissipation of heat and ensures performance of extreme overclocking. An aerodynamic fan, near the GPU, using thinner metal blades in the world (0.1 mm) to simulate the wing of an airplane in flight and increase the fan speed, reducing drag and noise. Together, the three fans optimize the flow of air while an efficient front suction system introduces fresh air into the laptop.

The Acer Predator 17x also includes cool boost and dust defender systems using two high-speed fans with reverse rotation to remove the accumulation of dust and improve heat dissipation.

The display measures 17.3 inch and has two options – 4k 3840 x 2160 pixels or full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 pixels. Port selection includes  one port USB Type-C , four USB 3.0 full-size, one HDMI, an Ethernet and a slot for SD cards.
