ASRock Beebox review

Thanks to some slide published by boys Hungarian website, a new Mini PC by ASRock is in the works and it is quite different from other models chiefly becausd it is based on a dual-core Intel Celeron N3000 (Braswell) processor clocked at 1.04GHz and is fanless. We do not know the price of BeeBox but we know that it will be launched in selected markets in June and July. We are likely to see a preview at Computex 2015 slated to take part in Taipei.

ASRock Beebox specs

ASRock Beebox measures 110 x 46 x 118.5 mm an Intel NUC. The black frame has a grid on the back that allows the passive cooling of the internal heat produced by Intel Braswell 4W processor. It also has two SODIMM slots that can accommodate up to 8GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM and a slot for an mSATA SSD or SATA hard disk.

Several configurations

According to information available, ASRock will offer several models including one with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and Windows 8.1 with Bing; another with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and no operating system. There will be a barebones version which will be sold without RAM, storage and OS. Prices have not been announced yet but we hope that the  base version will cost € 300.

All SKUs have common processor and interfaces that includes three USB 3.0 ports, a Type-C right port on the front panel, Ethernet, two HDMI, Display Port, audio jack, Kensington Lock, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth . The Mini PC also has an IR port which will be useful with the bundled remote control.

ASRock Beebox can be placed on a desk or behind a monitor with VESA support. This can be used if you are planning to use it as media center at home, at work or in commercial / industrial place. Definitely going to talk about in the coming days.
